Join the BUCKET BRIGADE! Fireworks Safety at Home

License Types

Retailer of Fireworks (stands): Required to sell, offer for sell, expose for sale or possess with intent to sell permissible fireworks at retail. Valid from date of issuance to the end of the calendar year (12/31).

Display Retailer of Fireworks License: Required to sell deliver, consign, give or furnish fireworks to any person authorized to conduct a fireworks display in Colorado. Valid from the date of issuance through 8/31 of the year following issuance.

Wholesaler of Fireworks License: Required to sell, deliver, consign, give or furnish permissible fireworks to a retailer for resale in Colorado. Valid from the date of issuance through 8/31 of the year following issuance.

Exporter of Fireworks License: Required to sell, deliver, consign, give or furnish fireworks for export outside of Colorado. Valid from the date of issuance through 8/31 of the year following issuance.

License Requirements

Step 1: Please have the following documents completed and ready to upload prior to completing an application:

  • Certificate of Good Standing from the Colorado Secretary of State
  • Trade Name Affidavit (required when using a trade name or fictitious name)
  • Legible valid (not expired) copy of Principal, Drivers License or ID Card
  • Proof of General Liability Insurance with at least $1 Million in general liability.

Step 2: Complete and submit the appropriate Background Check form and payment. The Colorado Bureau of Investigations (CBI) conducts background checks for DFPC. No licenses or permits will be issued without a CBI Background Check.
