Grants

The Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control (DFPC) provides grants for volunteer, combination and career fire, and rescue companies intended to help them improve and enhance their capabilities to provide firefighting, and rescue services.

Firefighter Safety and Disease Prevention Grant (FFSDPG)

The 2026 local FFSDPG application period opens on Monday, January 5, 2026 and closes on Friday, February 13, 2026. The FFSDPG provides reimbursement for equipment and training designed to increase firefighter safety and prevent occupation-related diseases.

Agencies are limited to a single project up to the grant award maximum of $20,000.

National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS) reporting compliance for calendar years 2024 and 2025 is required.

Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant

Provides Federal financial, technical and other assistance to the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control to organize, train and equip fire departments in rural areas and rural communities to prevent and suppress fires.

Home Hardening Grant

This program allows homeowners to apply to receive a grant for retrofitting or improving a house or other structure on the homeowner's property with strategies and technologies for structure hardening in order to make the house or structure more resilient to the risk of wildfire.
