With the passage of Senate Bill SB23-214, the Division of Fire Prevention and Control was provided additional funding in order to expand the existing Professional Development Unit into a Community Risk Reduction (CRR) and Education Branch to be implemented as of July 1, 2023.
The work unit will be split into two primary purposes Professional Development (Education) and Community Risk Reduction (CRR). The work of this Unit is primarily educational. This educational approach is critical to obtain buy-in from our delegated local governmental entities’ inspection and plans examiner professionals and private third-party inspection professionals, without whom these programs could not succeed.
