Fire Suppression Program Rules (8 CCR 1507-11)

All Fire Suppression System Contractors Registrations expire on 12/31 of the registration year. Renewals will not be accepted earlier than 12/1 for the next registration year.

According to 8 CCR 1507-11 3.5.3 all applications for registration shall have no longer than 30 days from the original submittal to correct deficiencies in their application including missing materials or fees. Applications older than 30 days with deficiencies will be considered vacated and applications and fees surrendered. 

Fees for Registration

  • New = $100.00
  • Renewal (Up to and including January 30th) = $100.00
  • Renewal (January 30th - March 1st additional fee due) = $125.00
  • Renewal (After March 1st - Out of Good Standing *OOGS*) = $125.00

Fire Suppression Contractor - Commercial, Civil & Residential

Individuals or companies performing work in accordance with Section 3.1 on Fire Suppression Systems in commercial, civil, or residential occupancies.

Registrations requirements

The following documents are required in PDF format, please have them ready prior to applying.

Online Application

  • Notarized Principal Acknowledgement of Legal Responsibility
    • AFFIDAVITS MUST BE SIGNED AND NOTARIZED WITHIN THE LAST 30 DAYS
  • Certificate of Good Standing from the Colorado Secretary of State
  • Legible copy of valid (not expired) Principal Drivers License or ID Card
  • Proof of General Liability Insurance in the amount of at least $1 million
  • Name an Responsible Managing Employee (RME) that is a NICET III or IV, a PE or Registered CO Sprinkler Fitter.
    • NICET Certifications must be in Water-Based Systems Layout or Inspection and Testing
      • Water Based Systems Layouts
        • Level III is for technicians who can work independently with standards, plans, and specifications to produce complete plans for typical/standard systems for approval.
        • Level IV is for senior-level technicians whose work includes complex or specialized systems and supervision of others.
      • Water Based Systems Inspection and Testing
        • ​​​​Level III is for technicians who can work independently to perform complete system inspection and testing jobs, and who may supervise the work of other I & T technicians.
  • Valid (not expired) copy of RME Certification
Fire Suppression Contractor - Residential ONLY

Individuals or companies performing work in accordance with Section 3.1 on Fire Suppression Systems only in residential occupancies.

NOTE: You do not need to have a Residential ONLY registration if you hold the commercial, civil and residential registration already.

  • Notarized Principal's Acknowledgement of Legal Responsibility
    • AFFIDAVITS MUST BE SIGNED AND NOTARIZED WITHIN THE LAST 30 DAYS
  • Certificate of Good Standing from the Colorado Secretary of State
  • Legible, valid (not expired) copy of the Principal's Driver's License or State ID
  • Proof of General Liability Insurance in the amount of at least $1 million

Fire Suppression System Contractor - Backflow

Individuals or companies conducting installation, maintenance, service or testing of backflow prevention devices installed on fire sprinkler systems.

Registrations requirements

  • Notarized Principal Acknowledgement of Legal Responsibility 
    • AFFIDAVITS MUST BE SIGNED AND NOTARIZED WITHIN THE LAST 30 DAYS
  • Certificate of Good Standing from the Colorado Secretary of State
  • Legible copy of valid (not expired) Principal Drivers License or ID Card
  • Proof of General Liability Insurance in the amount of at least $1 million
  • Name a Qualified Employee that holds an ASSE, ABPA or ABC Certification
  • Valid (not expired) copy of Qualified Employee's Certification
Fire Suppression System Contractor - Underground

Individuals or companies installing Underground Supply Lines from public water lines to system risers.

NEW! Fire Suppression System Contractor - Premanufactured

Individuals or companies producing a premanufactured building or structure to be installed in Colorado containing a fire suppression system subject to regulation by the State of Colorado's adopted Codes, Standards, Rules and Regulations. 

According to 8 CCR 1507-11 3.10.2 must employ a State of Colorado Registered Sprinkler Fitter
