CO-FIRE Subcommittee

The CO-FIRE Subcommittee aims to identify strategies for DFPC to strengthen and support fire agencies through coordinated initiatives that prioritize staffing, training, and supplemental resources to ensure efficient and unified emergency response across Colorado.

CO-FIRE Subcommittee Objectives

  1. Analyze existing statewide fire agency support models.
    1. Study CAL FIRE origins to identify components that could strengthen DFPC and be adapted to the Colorado context
    2. Study other states' models (TX, NM, …) to understand alternative structures for statewide fire agency support.
  2. Identify support needs across Colorado fire agencies.
    1. Gather input to identify needed support—administrative, operational, short-term, and long-term.
    2. Determine which agencies would receive this support (parameters).
    3. Clarify roles and responsibilities of stakeholders.

Deliverable: Needs assessment outlining agency types, support gaps, and stakeholder roles.

  1. Produce actionable recommendations for DFPC.
    1. Recommend action items based on input gathered in Objective 2.

Deliverable: Recommendations document with prioritized actions, timelines, and implementation considerations, including a framework for re-evaluation and continual stakeholder engagement.
