Thanks for the opportunity to share a little about myself. I am currently transitioning into retirement from the Air Force. This is being accomplished with the support of my wife of 23 years, Catina, and my two sons, Thomas (22), and Jonathan (13). We are enjoying the journey and look forward to making Colorado our new home.
As I transition into my next career path, I am excited to join the Division of Fire Prevention and Control. Working with this dedicated team of professionals these last few months has been truly amazing. The journey into the International Fire Code has been very interesting. Most of my previous code application has been around the NFPA’s and Air Force regulations. My knowledge has been expanding over the last few months and I’m looking forward to continuing to learn something new every day.
Outside of work my interests include sports and going for family hikes. Colorado presents beautiful scenery for enjoying the outdoor life. Driving all over the state and seeing the views has been incredible. When we talk sports, we are all huge Alabama Football fans! “ROLLTIDE! Being from Mobile, Alabama we have loved them since childhood.
It’s an incredible privilege to serve the state of Colorado and educate the community on fire and life safety.

I recently joined the Fire and Life Safety Section of DFPC as a Building Inspector Intern, bringing along with me over seven years of active-duty Naval service. While in the service, I gained vast experience as an electrician and a construction & building inspector. I feel honored to work among a group of conversant individuals. Working with these individuals, as a team, has been astonishing and informative. My prior knowledge of building inspections has significantly increased by attending many pre-construction meetings and school inspections. I am also learning a great deal about the ICC A117.1 Standard for Accessible Buildings.
I was born and raised in Ghana, West Africa and later into my youth moved to Staten Island, NY where my parents reside. As I began my transition out of the Navy, I moved to Colorado for my internship and plan to stay after it is completed due to the love I have developed for Colorado. I speak seven Ghanaian dialects, English, and a pinch of French. I have a family of five, including my wife, our 11-year-old son, 2-year-old daughter, and goofy Doberman. I enjoy abstract art, working on antique cars (I own a 1977 Chevrolet Caprice), hiking, painting, trying new foods, and working out.
It is an honor to serve the State of Colorado and our great nation.

I am the new Administrative Assistant for the Building Code Branch. I have a diverse background working for the US Navy, several hotel and hospitality venues, and as a veterinary assistant. I am excited to apply all the skills I developed from my previous career fields to this new position in code enforcement.
After serving in the Navy for 6 years as an IT, she and her husband moved to Colorado where I attended Johnson & Wales University and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel & Lodging Management. Next I worked for several lodging establishments as a Sales Administrative Assistant and Sales Manager. I decided to make a “COVID career change” and took the opportunity to work as a veterinary assistant for the past 2 years.
I am proud to call myself a Coloradan after moving to the Denver Metro Area in 2014. I never imagined living here this long, but I can’t seem to get away. That is saying a lot because this is the longest I have lived in one State. I share my home with my husband, Justin, our dog, Inga, our cat, Darryl, and Romulus, our bearded dragon. Together we all love experiencing everything Colorado has to offer especially skiing and visiting hot springs.

As a new fire inspector with the Division of Fire Prevention and Control, I look forward to helping make the State of Colorado a safer place in the realm of fire safety. Coming from a background as a volunteer Lieutenant in the fire service, retiring after 15 years of service, and having over 20 years in law enforcement, I have devoted my life to public service. Growing up, trying to figure out what my calling was, my dad, who was an electrical lineman at the time, wanted me to follow in his footsteps. I told him working with electricity was too dangerous for me, so I decided to become a firefighter and police officer instead! I joined the Division of Fire Prevention and Control to employ my fire operational and fire prevention background and put it to good use for the citizens of Colorado.
In my free time, I enjoy rebuilding and restoring classic vehicles, camping, fishing, boating, but most importantly, cooking. I have a passion for BBQing and smoking meats. Since starting with the Division, there is a ton of information to learn and I feel like I have been drinking from the dump outlet of a water tender. I am excited and honored to be working for the DFPC and serving the citizens and fire districts within the State.
