PQT Summer Newsletter 2022: Colorado Fire Incident Reporting
In 2021, Colorado fire departments were called to 663,535 incidents, a 4.9 percent increase from the previous year. With mutual aid included, the number of reports increased to 687,164 (a 4.8 percent increase from the previous year). This resulted in more than $208 million of property and contents loss. In 2021 Colorado had 8 Fire Fighter Deaths, 29 Civilian Fire Related Deaths and 142 Civilian Fire Related Injuries.
The number of fire departments reporting into the Colorado Fire Incident Reporting System (CFIRS) for 2021 was 254. A HUGH THANK YOU to those departments that reported into CFIRS/NFIRS, which we can better understand our communities' need for fire department response & needs.

The above graph is of Colorado Incident Types for 2021. The majority of incidents that fire agencies respond to are Rescue & EMS calls of 65%, then Good Intent of 14% and Service Calls at 8%.
