Rated Construction Check Fire Barriers and Building Separation if fire barriers separate the buildings. If the fire barrier is badly compromised, the surveyor can consider the buildings one building and survey them as such. Verify corridor walls are adequately constructed and maintain Fire Resistance Rating. Review audit documentation and specification sheets for Smoke and Fire-rated Construction and penetrations. Check floor-to-floor separations, corridor wall construction, smoke barrier construction, and construction and condition. Check the vertical opening construction of elevators, dumbwaiters, or chutes for compliance. Inspect smoke and fire barriers for materials, continuity, and completeness from outside wall to wall and floor above. Check penetrations and ductwork for proper sealing and fire/smoke devices. Inspect any dampers, fire, or smoke installed in the ductwork. Ensure that you inspect the above ceiling. Inspect all Fire Doors for proper maintenance. Review ITM Documentation to ensure compliance with NFPA 80.
