Resource Branch
The DFPC Resource Branch is made up of the Resource Mobilization Unit and the Resource Coordination Unit.
The DFPC Resource Mobilization Unit provides a wide range of planning, coordination, programmatic, and administrative functions. This supports resource mobilization in Colorado. This unit:
- supports field operations
- assists with the management of dispatch systems to ensure resource availability
- tracks resources
- manages qualifications systems for State and local agencies
- provides technical assistance and support to partners and local agencies.
The Resource Mobilization Unit is composed of:
- a Unit Chief
- a Battalion Chief
- five Resource Specialists
- six dispatchers
- three Lead Dispatchers
- and three Deputy Center Managers.
The Resource Coordination Unit was formed to meet Colorado Fire Commission Recommendation 20-01 and State Legislative actions. DFPC was directed to set up mobilization, tracking, and coordination processes and procedures for “Fire Based Resources” to address increasing wildfire and all hazard risks in Colorado. The Resource Coordination Unit is in charge of implementing the Colorado Mutual Aid System (CMAS). Four Resource Coordination Battalion Chiefs representing each DFPC district are in place to aid in these processes.

The intent of CMAS, as described in Senate Bill 21-166, is to rapidly source and mobilize fire-based resources to an incident where local mutual aid has been exhausted.
The DFPC Resource Mobilization Unit has been created to develop, plan, and implement the CMAS statewide.
